I don’t mean the fad detoxes, the boo tea or liquid shakes, I mean the proper detoxification techniques which transform your health. The methods that can take your health to the next level, more than can be achieved through diet alone – THAT sort of detox.

We really can’t afford not to be actively detoxing anymore. Our tap water is contaminated with fluoride, chlorine, cadmium, parasites, and pharmaceutical drugs, the air is polluted with toxic gases and petroleum products, our skincare products have a list as long as your arm of unrecognisable ingredients, many untested due to relaxed legislation, food sprayed with pesticides, herbicides and fungicides, I could go on… but you get the picture. Every year new chemicals are found and added to the ever growing list of ingredients in our food / drink / product supply and effectively what’s happening is, we’re slowly being poisoned.

Our eliminatory organs work hard to keep us detoxed; our skin, our colon, our liver, our lungs and our kidneys. But with the endless onslaught of toxins, if we’re not actively helping them, they’re going to struggle. Most people’s livers (our chemical factory) are overburdened and are no longer working at full function. Most people are carrying around with them pounds of compacted faecal matter in their colons which is adding to their bloating, gas and digestive issues. This is the beginning of illness and this is why detoxing is SO important. It’s no surprise that chronic illness is rising in line with our chemical use. Let’s start helping our bodies.

I feel passionate about this because I’ve seen my own health transform through the power of detox. Once I started cleansing, removing parasites, flushing through all that old waste, I felt SO good. My energy sky-rocketed, my mood lifted, my skin began to glow, my weight dropped, my sleep was deep and I felt fantastic. And not just me, but my clients too. People are changing their lives every single day through the power of detoxification and it’s a completely natural process. The body does it every day, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. All we need to do is help its efforts and we keep our body incredibly happy.

Disease can only be born in an acidic environment – and what turns it acidic? Toxins. When toxicity levels reach high levels, we’re in trouble. The terrain determines whether or not we become vulnerable to germs. Therefore we have an immense power and level of control over whether or not we become sick. So how do we do it? I get people ask me how to introduce detoxing into their life, so here a few ways you can begin.

STEP 1. Flush your colon. If you’re not removing waste 3 times a day, after every meal, then you need to cleanse. Everything else in the body detoxes into the colon, where it’s ready to be removed, so this must be working well to help the rest of the body out. Here is a quick, easy and cost effective method;

Put 2 tsp sea salt or rock salt (cannot be table salt) into 1 litre of filtered water (cannot be tap water) and drink within 5 minutes, on an empty stomach – just upon waking is best. Then lie down on your right hand side for 30 minutes. That’s it. Over the course of the day you will expel stool – lots and lots of it – and you’ll feel much better for it! Make sue you drink at least another 1 litre of water, without salt, to re-hydrate sufficiently.

STEP 2. The skin is our biggest detoxification organ so we must keep it clean. Dry brushing daily prevents dead skin from clogging our pores and makes it not only easier for our body to release toxins kept just below the skin (and we usually have tonnes here), but also makes anything we apply topically, take better effect. Magnesium oil is the key detoxification mineral so applying this topically can be a great tactic in your detoxing. Dry brush, shower and then apply magnesium oil, before bed. This will also give you a great night’s sleep which is another important part of healing the body.

STEP 3. Parasite cleanse. We really should be performing a full parasite cleanse at least once a year. We are exposed to them all the time so if we want to ensure they don’t wreak havoc internally and lead to health issues, we must keep removing them. A great way to start is by incorporating lots of garlic into your diet. I recommend taking a diced garlic clove before bed each night. Dice it finely, put on to a spoon and chase with water. If you’re feeling extra brave, using a garlic clove as a depository is a powerful way to detoxify the body as you sleep. Insert before bed and let it work its magic. It will be removed along with your next bowel movement or you can use an enema. By being inserted rectally, the herb is absorbed into the bloodstream and has the ability to cross the blood brain barrier. This means it can help the body systemically and is great for central nervous system issues. Garlic is my all time favourite herb and is referred to as “nature’s antibiotic” for a very good reason!

STEP 4: Hot and cold therapy. Shocking the body by going from one extreme to the other helps build resilience, improves immune function, speeds up your metabolism and has been clinically proven to increase energy levels – and it’s super simple. At the end of your hot shower, blast yourself with water as cold as you can handle. Try to last 10 seconds.

STEP 5: Heal your gut. This is a process that is too in depth for this blog but there are many healing foods and supplements you can use. A healthy gut is a healthy body so must be something we are always working on. Incorporating a gut healing smoothie is a great way to work on it every day. My favourite products to use are slippery elm powder, bone broth protein powder, prebiotic blend, green supreme powder blend containing organic vegetables, enzymes and probiotics, ashwagandha powder and a mixture of vegetables and low GI fruits such as lemon, ginger and berries.
